We really never dreamed we’d get another chance to use fresh KINGPIN semen but for a couple of weeks last fall, it came back to life and we didn’t waste the chance. Mother 23-10, one of Carole’s sisters that sold in the ’22 BTB Sale to Stacener’s in TX. She’s always been the most impressive visually and from a resume standpoint, she’s also been the generator. She’s backed by 96-7, the Dirty daughter that sold as Lot 1 in the ’21 BTB Sale and 143-10, the Dirty Good sow that sold in the ’20 BTB Sale. One could make a very strong argument that this is our most potent sow family. Sired by KINGPIN and to steal the words from the recent BTB catalog; He wasn’t an accident. In fact, his is the result of one of the first double-bred Dirty Secret mating’s we made. His fertility has always been a struggle and looking back, it’s somewhat of a miracle that he ever sired a pig, much less the footprint he’s left. He has sired elite show barrows that have won at the highest levels and his sons found their own foothold for some of the top programs in the business. And yet, he has truly found fame as a female sire. Over time, Kingpin daughters have done their fair share of winning – at all levels – but their performance beyond the show ring is where the light shines the brightest. Kingpin sows have earned praise, industry wide and the proof is in the pedigrees.
